Bronxville's Jim Houlihan Honored By Fordham Baseball

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Bronxville’s Jim Houlihan, a Fordham University alum and partner in Houlihan Parnes Realty, was honored by the university at its Baseball Alumni & Hall of Fame Plaque Day.

Houlihan was presented with a plaque by Fordham University president Father Joseph J. McShane during the ceremony at Houlihan Park at Jack Coffey Field on Fordham’s Rose Hill campus in the Bronx. With Houlihan’s support, Fordham saluted baseball legends, including Frankie Frisch, also known as “The Fordham Flash,” and Vin Scully, longtime broadcaster of the Dodgers.

Former Dodgers owner Walter O’Malley and Esteban Bellan, the first Latin player in the majors, were among the other honorees. Baseball coach Kevin Leighton hosted the ceremonies. Plaques of Scully, Frisch, Bellan, Dan Gallagher, Jack Coffey, John Kieran and Ed Walsh were unveiled at the ceremony. All of those former Fordham players have been enshrined in various Halls of Fame.

Fordham is the oldest and winningest Division I college baseball program. The Rams began intercollegiate play in 1859, with more than 4,000 victories to its credit in its 154-year history.
