Suspect Who Allegedly Shot Woman In Neck ID'd As Nypd Sergeant

YONKERS, N.Y. -- A woman who walked into the Emergency Room at St. John's Hospital with a gunshot wound to her neck was allegedly shot by her domestic partner, a sergeant with the New York City Police Department.according to Yonkers Police.

Yonkers Police said they received a call around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, from the hospital alerting them to the fact that a 39-year-old woman had walked into the ER with an apparent gunshot wound to her neck.

Responding officers were able to receive information that the woman had been shot inside of an apartment on Warburton Avenue earlier in the day, and the suspect was her boyfriend Jose Guerrero, 49, with whom the woman has a child.

An investigation by detectives revealed that the victim was in a domestic dispute with Guerrero inside of the apartment and that Guerrero fired a round from a handgun which struck the woman in the neck.

Guerrero was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

The victim was treated and released.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department notified the NYPD of the incident.
