WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A former police sergeant from Westchester working in Florida was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash.
Retired Bronxville Police Sgt. Anthony Deleo, now working as a deputy for the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Department in Florida, was hospitalized after being involved in a motorcycle crash Friday, according to reports out of Florida, which Bronxville police officials confirmed.
According to the reports, Deleo was traveling on County Road 210 when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a tree. He was thrown from his vehicle and struck a concrete utility pole. Deleo was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital by helicopter, but is expected to survive.
Deleo had been a sergeant in Bronxville for several years before he moved south to St. John’s County to serve as a Sheriff’s deputy three years ago.
