Marion McEnery, 88, Former Lawrence Hospital Clerk

YONKERS, N.Y. – Marion E. McEnery, a former longtime resident of Yonkers, died Oct. 30, surrounded by her family. She was 88.

Born Sept. 7, 1924, McEnery was a daughter of Catherine and Valentine Tencza. She was a lifelong resident of Yonkers until moving to Ulster County, N.Y., in 2008.

She married Harold “Mac” McEnery on June 13, 1948 at St. Casimir's Church in Yonkers.

McEnery worked at the College of Mount St. Vincent in the Bronx, N.Y., for 10 years. She later worked as an admitting clerk at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville before retiring in 1994. She was a communicant of St. Casimir's Church, St. Mary's Church and later St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville.

She enjoyed entertaining for her family. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker, always encouraging others to feel welcomed, her family said. She enjoyed music and loved to sing.

Her husband died on June 27, 1982.

McEnery is survived by a son, Richard McEnery, of Florida; a daughter, Jean (Edward) Peterson, of Highland, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Steve, Bill, Stanley and Henry; and four sisters, Caroline Jambik-Kolisz, Josephine Cavitch, Frances Booth and Jean Kmetz.

Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at F. Ruggiero and Sons Funeral Home in Yonkers. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers at a later date.
