BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - Harry C. Zourdos, a lifetime Bronxville resident died April 25. He was 87.
Zourdos served with the 97th infantry division in combat in Germany and was a member of the 387th infantry Army of Occupation in Japan during WWII. He was president of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in New Rochelle for four terms. He was a past president of The Bronx Chapter of #175, of the order of Ahepa. He was two times president of the Westchester Rockland Restaurant Association and a life member of the Board of the New York State Restaurant Association. He was appointed to and served two terms on the Board of the Westchester County Board of Health.
Zourdos owned the Alps Restaurant in Bronxville, now Underhills, for 30 years and was co-owner of Maguires Restaurant, Mamaroneck for 30 years. He was a member of the New York Athletic Club for 45 years.
Zourdos is survived by his wife, Alicia Tucker Zourdos; a sister, Angeline Pappas (Peter); a niece and three nephews; a stepson; and two step daughters.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville. Services Monday, April 29 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, New Rochelle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Hospital, Bronx, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
