Village Elections Upcoming in Bronxville

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The November elections and holidays are over but Bronxville residents have village elections on the horizon.

Two seats on the Bronxville Village Board will be up for grabs, one held by Anne Poorman, the other by William Barton. It remains unclear whether Poorman or Barton will run for another two year term on the board. Neither was available by press time.

When it comes to village elections, candidates must be registered voters on the party lines they wish to represent, said Bronxville Village Administrator Harold Porr. Poor said that at a meeting or caucus held sometime before the end of January, the candidate will seek the nomination of the party. The candidate must be nominated, seconded and win the largest number of votes in order to win the party line.

"If a person did not recieve the nomination and wishes to run, they can collected signatures on a petition and force a primary," Porr said.

Village elections will take place on March 20. All voting will be done at Bronxville Village Hall. Polling hours will be between 6 am and 9 pm.

Only voters registered with the Westchester County Board of Elections can vote in the village elections. Non–registered voters have until March 9 to register if they wish to vote.
