The display continues on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The last day to see the exhibit will be Friday, Jan. 13.The display portrays a bustling village located at the base of Mount Vesuvius, the volcano in Naples responsible for the catastrophic destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum in 79 A.D. The landscape is handcrafted in wood, cork and paper maché; the figures are made of terra cotta, hemp and wire, many of which stand more than a foot tall. Guided educational tours are available for classroom and group visits. The exhibit is supported by donations to the Presepio Napoletano Fund. For more information, please call (914) 771-8700.
