EASTCHESTER, N.Y. In a year where there were unexpected snowstorms, hurricanes, passing school bonds, and an abundance of charity, warmth and community, it is hard to imagine what will come in 2012.
Here are some hopes and predictions..........
"I think that Michael Phelps will win even more medals in London. He's going to be awesome in the 2012 Summer Olympics." Kathleen O'Keefe, Bronxville High School Senior
"It is my sincerest hope that the family of Lauren Spierer will be able to bring Lauren home. Where ever she is, I hope they can bring her home." Rabbi Stephen Klein, Spiritual leader of the Scarsdale Synagogue, Temple Tremont, Temple Emanu-El for the last 30 years.
"The world's going to end. The Apocalypse is coming next year so get as much done as you can now." Jack Aherne, Bronxville High School Senior
"I honestly feel that Social Security is in jeopardy, and I do not think we will see a financial recovery from this recession in 2012. But I pray that we will learn to pull together as a nation. We need a good dose of working together." Deacon Betty Roberts, Village Lutheran Church, Bronxville
"The economy probably won't be any better by election time next year. It'll be interesting to see how that impacts politics." Jill McDermott, Bronxville High School Junior
"I will keep on going to as many town meetings as I can. I enjoy holding the town officials to a high standard. "I am not crazy, at my age I just would like to keep going, and I want to remind the town officials to stay on their toes cause I am watching." Eastchester resident Peter DeFelice, age 92.
"There might be even more scandals in 2012 involving celebrities and politicians. They'll probably try to dig something up to mess with Obama for the election." Sarah Blanco, Bronxville High School Senior
"I would like to see 2012 be the year of respect an community working together." Rabbi Andrew Gordon, Scarsdale Synagogue, Temple Tremont, Temple Emanu-El.
"I think that the Giants will win the Super Bowl. I also think that the Knicks will make it out of the first round of the playoffs." Nick Capasso, Bronxville High School Senior
"We hope to have a year where we continue to become a source of news, information and stories you like to read about." The Daily Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe.
"It's going to be a good year. I have a good feeling about 2012 in general. I don't buy any of those apocalyptic theories." Audrey Lemberger, Bronxville High School Junior
