TUCKAHOE, N.Y. A resident was defrauded, another resident was arrested for assault and a resident had property stolen in Tuckahoe this week.
Police received a call at 8:02 a.m. March 21 from a caller reporting a disturbance in a home on Maynard Street.
When police arrived, they discovered an ongoing dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The victim was found with scratches, cuts and bruises to the right side of her face and ear, police said. She refused medical attention and was uncooperative with the investigation, but police took her boyfriend, Jamel Flood, 32 into custody, where he was charged with misdemeanor assault, police said.
Flood was arraigned later that morning and bail was set at $500. The court also issued a stay-away order to Flood, preventing him from having contact with the victim. The victim posted the bail for Flood.
At 3 p.m., police again were called to Maynard Street, where Flood was taken into custody for a second time for being in the home and violating the judge's order, police said.
Police said they received a call from a resident at 6:55 p.m. March 20. The caller said he had chained his Blue Trek mountain bike to the bicycle rack at the train station, and that it had been stolen. The bicycle was valued at $300. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
A village resident reported she had been the victim of fraud. The victim, 65, received an email inviting her to be part of a mystery shopper program. The woman was sent a check for $1,850.70 and advised to cash the check, keep $200 for herself and wire the balance via Western Union to a Chicago-based company.
Days later, the woman received word from her bank that the check was fraudulent and that she would most likely be responsible for paying back the $1,850.70. Police said they are investigating the matter.
