Oil Truck Spills Hundreds Of Gallons Into Bronx River In Westchester

YONKERS, N.Y. -- An oil delivery truck carrying 6,500 gallons of heating oil developed a leak at the above address ‎at 125 Bronx River Road early Saturday morning resulting in hundreds of gallons of oil spilling into the adjacent Bronx River.

The Yonkers Fire Department responded at approximately 8:30 a.m. and slowed the leak,‎ diked the oil on the ground, and collected some of the leaking oil into containers. YFD said it collected and diked approx 1,500 gallons.

Approximately 2,100 gallons ‎leaked, officials said, with some oil entering the storm drain and the Bronx River.

An oil cleanup company responded to pump out the remaining oil on the truck, and clean the spilled oil.
