BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- A Haverstraw man accused of cashing more than $9,000 worth of stolen checks is due in Bronxville Court on Oct. 5.
Sedrick Young, 24, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of grand larceny in the third degree, both Class D felonies, after he was arrested by Bronxville Police Detectives Richard Anderson and Nicholas DeYoung. Young is accused of cashing stolen checks at the Trustco Bank in Bronxville on two separate dates.
Young allegedly cashed the first stolen check on May 16, 2011 for $5,023.52 and a second check for $9,250. Both checks were made out to a legitimate business, and police say the circumstances remain under investigation.
Young was arraigned in Bronxville Justice Court and bail was set at $15,000. He was transported to Westchester County Jail.
Bronxville Police Sgt. Steven Gallo said that Young has been arrested on one other occasion in 2009 by the New York City Police Department. He was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, a class c felony. Gallo said he is still on probation for that offense.
This is the second felony arrest in the village in a week. Frederick Nelson, of New York City, was charged with the theft of a Dell computer from Concordia College.
