License Plate Reader Helps Nab Two in Bronxville

BRONXVILLE,  N.Y. --   An attempted theft at Andre’s Hardware store on Kraft Avenue and two drivers with suspended licenses being caught because of the village's license plate reader highlighted police blotter entries over the past week.

Bronxville police report that an employee at Andre’s called police at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon after a man was caught trying to conceal four cans of spray paint in a bag and leave the store without paying for them. The subject was described as a black male, approximately 21 and around six feet tall, wearing a blue sweater with tan cargo pants and black sneakers.  When police arrived they searched for the suspect but did not find him, but did find the bag.

A 25-year-old Yonkers resident was detained on Jan. 26 at 1:40 a.m. after police discovered he was driving with a suspended license. The vehicle belonging to Berto Aquino, 25, of Yonkers, was impounded and he was issued several traffic citations. He is due back in village court on Feb. 1.

A 41-year-old Yonkers resident was detained on Jan. 24 at 11:26 a.m. after police discovered she was driving with a suspended license and registration. The vehicle belonging to Luz Navia, 41, of Yonkers was impounded and she was issued multiple traffic citations. She is due back in village court on Feb. 1.
