GOP Ticket Set in Upcoming Bronxville Election

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Bronxville Republican Committee has announced that incumbent Trustee Anne Poorman and Guy A. Longobardo will run on its ticket for election to the village board in March.

Poorman, who has been a member of the Bronxville Village Board for the last seven years, said she is grateful for the trust she feels has been placed in her by village residents and her fellow trustees.

"I will strive to maintain a high level of service and to remain responsive and flexible when asked to take on challenging issues," Poorman said. "I want to remain fiscally prudent without jeopardizing Bronxville unique character."

Village trustees serve two-year terms and do not receive any money for their service.

Newcomer Guy A. Longobardo has also won the Republican Committee endorsement.  His mother, Anna Longobardo, is a long-time member of the Bronxville Planning Board.

"I am running because Bronxville is a special place," Longobardo said. "It is an active village and I am one of those people who believes in giving back to the community."

Longobardo, who said he is honored to have a place on the ballot, grew up in Bronxville and is raising his two daughters there as a single dad.

"One of the reasons Bronxville is special is because of the work of the volunteers who are willing to roll up their sleeves and to work for the community," Longobardo said.

Poorman said the village, like most Westchester communities will have many challenges to face in the next few years.

"The two-year horizon looks daunting," Poorman said. "How can we maintain high levels of service when we are squeezed by unfunded mandates, skyrocketing insurance and health care costs and government interference from above? I am ready to work hard with Mayor Mary Marvin and her team."

Village elections will be held on March 20, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. All registered voters who live in the village are eligible to vote. Voting will be held at village hall.
