Five Questions With Bronxville Library Interim Director

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Bronxville resident Linda Smith-Shearer was appointed this week as interim director of the Bronxville Library for the next three months at the most.  Smith-Shearer takes her new post Wednesday after roughly a month since former director Laura Eckley resigned and withdrew a lawsuit against the village.

On the eve of her first day as interim director, Smith-Shearer answered five questions for The Daily Bronxville.

When is your first day on the job?

Wednesday, and I can't wait.

Is there any pressing business that needs to be dealt with at the library?

The library is in really good shape. We have a fabulous staff who has handling things very well.

Are you planning on making any changes to the existing programs at the library?

My goal is to support the staff in all of the existing programs. There are no plans to change any of the existing programs.

In addition to supporting the staff, is there anything else you will do at the library?

There is a capital project, carpeting the young adult section that I will oversee during my time at the library.

Anything you would like to say to the residents about the Bronxville Library?

I hope everyone will make a point to stop by and take advantage of all the wonderful services the Library provides.
