Car Vandalism Spree in Bronxville

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – While most Bronxville residents were waking up to the first snowfall of the season, owners of five vehicles on the west side of the village were waking up to smashed car windows and stolen property.

Bronxville Police are investigating a car vandalism crime spree they believe happened on Saturday morning between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.

Police said five cars parked along Stone Place and Milburn Street, right near Maltby Park and the entrance to the Bronx River Parkway, had their windows broken.

Sgt. Steve Gallo said each car was rummaged through.

"Several victims have reported stole items, such as iPods and loose change," Gallo said Sunday morning.

Police are in the process of reviewing surveillance tapes from area businesses, but the investigation is ongoing and more details may be revealed in the coming days.

Gallo said that Bronxville Police are working in conjunction with Yonkers Police. There where eight cars vandalized in the same way during the same time period by Yonkers Police, Gallo said.

Gallo said that cars parked in a lot, located only a quarter mile outside of Bronxville, suffered the same fate as the cars parked in the village. Reportedly, the lot is located at the beginning of Bronx River Road.
