BRONXVILLE, N.Y. Bronxville Village Board member Anne Poorman is back in the race to keep her seat on the board, despite initially announcing that she would not seek reelection. Poorman issued a statement on Wednesday evening that said she would try for another term.
In the seven days since I announced my retirement I have met with Mayor Marvin frequently, Poorman wrote, referencing Mayor Mary Marvin. The mayor has convinced me that running for another term as trustee is appropriate, do-able and in the best interest of the village and her mayoralty.
Poorman, one of four Republican village trustees, has served on the village board for seven years. She was the first to fill the remainder of then-trustee Marvin's term when Marvin became mayor and Poorman was subsequently elected for two three-year terms. Prior to her tenure on the village board, she served as a five-year member of the zoning board of appeals.
At the Jan. 17, village board meeting Poorman said that all good things must come to an end, and that she would not seek reelection.
"This has been the best volunteer experience of my life. I will miss the work and I will miss the people, she said at the time.
At the time, Marvin called Poorman diligent, professional, and a friend.
On Jan. 17, Trustee Bill Barton announced he would not seek another term on the board.
