Bronxville Trustee Bill Barton Says Farewell

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- It was the end of an era at the Bronxville Village Board on Monday night as it was Trustee Bill Barton's last official meeting as a member of the board.

"Bill has been a terrific colleague and a terrific friend, " said Mayor Mary Marvin. "He is intelligent, has a tremendous amount of integrity and a good sense of humor."

On his way out, Barton agreed to answer five questions for The Daily Bronxville.

What are you going to do with all of your free time?

"Well I am still working," said Barton, who manages investment for high net worth individuals at Goldman Sachs where he has worked since 1976. "I am going to take a little time off and see what happens."

What was your favorite part about being a member of the village board?

"Well, I very much enjoy serving the people of this village. But I would also say a favorite part of being here is the interaction with the staff and trustees, who are collegial and professional.”

What won't you miss about being a board member?

"I would have to say I won't miss being involved in contract negotiations with our employees. It is difficult to hash out financial agreements with people you like and trust."

What is the best part of living in Bronxville?

"I have lived here for 29 years and the best part is the people who live here. And of course we have a beautiful village and fantastic schools."

Any parting words?

"I would like to ask the residents to do me two favors. The first is to sign up for the Bronxville Alerts, and the second is to please recycle."
