Loraine Izzo has been treating birds of prey, including injured hawks and owls, for years in her home but said the county has taken the birds because she is not zoned to possess that type of animal in her housing area, said CBS New York.
In total, officers removed six red-tailed hawks, two owls and three other hawks from her home. Izzo, who is licensed to treat wounded raptors, said she planned to try and acquire a standalone wildlife center separate from her house to continue her work, added CBS New York.
