Bronxville Broncos JV Team Plan to Win, Move Up

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Members of the Bronxville High School Varsity Football team will not be the only kids on the sidelines during Saturday night’s game.

Wearing their jerseys and paying careful attention will be members of the next generation, among them, sophomores Caelan Corr, Paul Austi and James McDermott, who now play on the junior varsity team.

The trio will move up to the varsity team after their own last game on Saturday morning, in time to join the varsity team for the playoffs.

But before they turn their attention to the varsity team, the JV players are looking to finish their season with a win.

The boys admit Saturday morning’s game against Putnam Valley will be bittersweet. “It’s our last game as JV players, we will be moving up next week,” Corr said.

McDermott said the team is ready to end its season without a single loss. “I feel great,” he said. “We are going to win this game and go out undefeated.”

Austi said that the JV team has not lost a game in the last two seasons the whole time he, Coor and McDermott have been on the team.  In addition to giving credit to coach Dan Martin, and his fellow teammates, Austi points to the support of the community.

“Just knowing we have all of this support, really makes me feel confident during the game,” Austi said.

The JV team will play against Putnam Valley at 9:30 am on Saturday.
