Berry Lifts Concordia Women over Wilmington

Mariah Berry scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Monday to lead the Concordia women’s basketball team to a 78-71 victory over Wilmington in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division matchup.

Concordia (7-15, 6-9 CACC) will be back in action tomorrow evening at Post University in Waterbury, Conn. in a 6 p.m. start.

The Clippers took an early 9-2 lead in the opening and extended their lead to double digits after a three-point basket by Berry at the 7:40 mark of the first half. Wilmington moved closer with a three-pointer with four minutes remaining in the half, but the Clippers responded by going on a 9-4 run in the closing minutes to go into the locker room with a 35-22 lead.

The Wildcats responded with a 7-0 run to get within 12 points early in the second half and Concordia responded again with a 7-0 run to build a 19-point edge.

Chanessa Blakemore recorded her 14th double-double of the season with an 11-point and 17-rebound performance and Sade Jones added 18 points while Tara-Ann Rock  came off the bench to score 12 points in 18 minutes of playing time.
