Grant requests should be for an immediate and specific need in one or more of the service communities (Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Eastchester, Tuckahoe or Bronxville) and be related to the alleviation of hunger, the improvement of nutrition or the improvement of the health and welfare of girls or women, all of which are the particular focus of the Junior League's projects and aims.
“Our Community Grants are a wonderful resource for community non-profits," said Erica Sevilla, JLB president. "These grants provide support for small initiatives that have the potential to enrich lives and help make more of an impact in our service area. In the past the JLB has been able to provide grants to support daily hot soup for homebound seniors, basketball camp scholarships, instruction in nutrition and healthy lifestyles for children, and nutritional supplements for cancer patients. As an organization we feel privileged to be able to help so many in our community."
Special consideration will be given to requests that will enhance, rather than simply maintain, such programs and where the grant's effects last beyond the one-year grant period. Grants for endowment or general operating support will not be considered. Grant requests can be in any amount, however, in the last several years, grant awards generally have ranged from a few hundred dollars to $2,000.
