Always "Grand," Bronxville's Finley Dies at 92

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - Esther M. Finley, a longtime resident of Bronxville, died on Oct. 9 at 92.

A golfer with a "deadly putter," Finley would tee off on the greens of the Bonnie Briar and Siwanoy country clubs. Even as her health failed, Finley was said to never complain, always saying she was "grand."

Finley was predeceased by her father Joseph F. Finley, her mother Mary G. Finley, her brother Joseph Shaw Finley and her nephew Peter Shaw Finley.

Friends may call at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home in Bronxville on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville on Friday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of St. Joseph, 15 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY 10708.
