Students from the Chapel School, led by Lynn Lena, planted flowers and shrubs at the school and surrounding grounds.
The flowers were purchased with seed money received from a Thrivent Action Team.
“The rain this morning didn’t stop us,” stated one teacher. “I can’t wait to dig the hole for this beautiful flower,” said a student.
Students in kindergarten through grade 8 participated in this beautification project organized by the Chapel School’s Service Learning Committee.
Under the supervision of gardening enthusiast Lena, and the classroom teachers, each class had the opportunity to get their hands in the earth and plant flowers on the campus of the Chapel School.
“The students really enjoy working outside and getting a little messy,” said Lena.
The students worked together and learned how to become successful gardeners. Their handiwork can be seen firsthand outside the Village Lutheran Church and the Chapel School.
The Chapel School, which serves students from pre-K through eighth grade, has been serving the Westchester/Bronx community since 1947.
