EASTCHESTER, N.Y. Here are some of the events happening this weekend in and around Eastchester, Bronxville and Tuckahoe:
Friday
- "Possibilities/Energy Paintings," 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Artist Rosalind Brenner's exhibit, "Possibilities/Energy Paintings," mixes mediums to achieve tactility and fluidity, layering and building on the play between two-dimensionality and depth. In this exhibit are abstract paintings, collage and poems, as well as the artist's debut book of paintings and poems, "All That's Left." Exhibit is open through the weekend and daily through May 20. - "Drawing the Mind: Neural Networks and the Emergence of Complexity," noon to 5 p.m.
Artists trace mental states and patterns of thought through their drawings, in some literal and not so literal ways. The artists whose works are on display include: Deborah Aschheim, Laura Battle, J. Fiber, James Esber, Jane Fine, Tara Geer, William Holton, Wennie Huang, Jeesoo Lee, Michael Moore, Margaret Neill, Sumru Tekin, Virgil Wong and Jen Wright. Saturday
- MACs Women's Entrepreneur Summit, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The topic is Supercharging Your Facebook Marketing as a means of helping small businesses and nonprofits in the New York Metro area understand how to utilize social media marketing, specifically creating social campaigns and the advantages of the new Facebook timeline to achieve marketing success. - Story Pirates, 2 and 7 p.m.
Described as "Monty Python meets Schoolhouse Rock," Story Pirates is the education and media organization The New York Times called a theatrical treasure. Adults $17, children 16 and younger $13. (914) 328-1600. White Plains Performing Arts Center, 11 City Place, White Plains, N.Y.
- "Nearly Lear," 9 p.m.
"Nearly Lear" is a theatrical and family event encapsulating all the grandeur of one of Shakespeare's greatest works, "King Lear," as seen through the eyes of the King's closest companion: his own fool. Sunday
- 15K, 4-mile and 1-mile runs, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
The Scarsdale Parks and Recreation Department will hold the 43rd annual 15K/4-mile runs. A 1-mile Fun Run is also available and will start between 11 and 11:30 am for children 12 years old and younger. In addition, the Scarsdale Antiques Running Club will co-sponsor the Abe Simon Memorial Team race. - Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra, 3 p.m.
Program includes works by Mozart, Yung Kwak and Christine Kwak and Beethoven. The program is free. Saunders Trades and Technical High School, 183 Palmer Road, Yonkers, N.Y.
