Touch-A-Truck, now in its sixth year, is one of the Junior League’s longest running, and most popular events. It provides children the opportunity to climb aboard the bulldozers, tractor-trailers, fire trucks and other civic vehicles that help support the community each day.
In addition to the traditional vehicles this year’s event will feature back hoe, front loader and sweeper from the Tuckahoe Department of Public Works and a Trackless Train courtesy of Roaming Railroad.
As always, the experts that make use of the vehicles everyday will be on hand to answer questions and share tips and tricks from their jobs.
This year, attendees are being asked to bring canned goods to the event, which will be donated to the Food Bank of Westchester.
Sheridan Danfeld, the President of the Junior League of Bronxville said he “is proud to include this important element this year, and to also have the generous support of sponsors like Curto’s Appliances, who shares in our vision of ‘stamping out hunger in southern Westchester.”
Danfeld added that Curto’s has initiated their own “canned-good challenge.” For every canned good brought to the Touch-A-Truck, the business will match $1, which will be donated to the Junior League of Bronxville.
This year, to go along with the vehicles, there will be a face painting, temporary tattoos courtesy of Macaroni Kid Bronxville-Eastchester-New Rochelle and Fabio’s Hair Studio will “once again return to add a little glitz to you ‘do and make-up too.”
Touch-A-Truck will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Immaculate Conception School on Winterhill Road in Tuckahoe. Tickets will cost $10 at the door on the day of the event.
