The Temples of Tremont and Emanu-El are calling the event 'a day to do good,' and the many activities are aimed at that spirit of giving back to the community.

The day begins with a blood drive, starting at 8:30 a.m., and continue through the day with cooking food for the hungry and a Gift of Life bone marrow donor registration drive.

Along with scheduled events, synagogue members will collect donations for the New Rochelle Animal Shelter, United Interfaith Food Bank, Westchester Diaper Bank, gently used children’s clothing (ages 14 and below) for the Sharing Shelf, and gently used books (for ages 5 and below) plus school supplies for students at an underfunded school in Yonkers. Items for American soldiers are also welcomed.

The event is open to all members of the public, and will take place at the Synagogue, located at 2 Ogden Road in Scarsdale.

For more information on events and items wanted for donation visit the event website at http://www.sstte.org/mitzvah-day.html or by calling at 914-725-5175.
