New Update: Expanding Dangerous Winds With Gusts Up To 60 MPH Could Cause Power Outages

A potent storm system that swept through the Northeast will be followed by strong, howling winds with gusts up to 60 miles per hour throughout most of the region along with scattered snow squalls and flurries farthest inland.

Wind speeds will expand overnight and reach damaging levels around daybreak on Monday, March 11, continuing through Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds out of the Northwest between 25 to 35 miles per hour will be accompanied by gusts up to 50 to 60 mph during that time, with the threat of scattered to widespread power outages.

In areas in the darkest shade of blue, including the Berkshires, several inches of snowfall is possible.

Clouds will gradually dissipate on Monday as the sun returns with some clouds amid the windy conditions, with a high temperature in the low to mid-40s.

Tuesday, March 12, and Wednesday, March 13 will be mainly sunny with temperatures in the low 50s to mid-50s.

The outlook for Thursday, March 14 calls for milder temperatures that will climb just above the 60-degree mark in most of the region with mostly sunny skies.
