In an effort to elevate the guest experience, designers and officials with Häagen-Dazs have been working for years to finalize the new national design the companys first since 2006 which will be unveiled to the public at an event in Bronxville on Saturday, rain, snow or shine.
The new design features a sampling section, where patrons can find the perfect flavor, before paying for their order and enjoying dessert theatre as employees prepare orders to the customers preferences at the sundae station.
The goal was to make our customers feel like theyre being served something special, which they are. We wanted to make it an experience, Häagen-Dazs Marketing Manager Justin Chafe said.
With a grand opening from 12 to 4 p.m. featuring free ice cream on Saturday, the world will be introduced to the latest design that will soon be featured throughout the country.
Tom Kowalski, the lead designer on the project for experience design agency Interbrand Design Forum, noted that the new design took years to fully develop from scratch. It features a more streamlined countertop without the traditional tubs of ice cream in the window causing more confusion.
You want it to have that signature look. You want to know youre in Häagen-Dazs without having to look up at the sign, he said. We wanted a handcrafted design that lived up to the quality of the ice cream.
Dawn Uremovich, the president and General Manager of Häagen-Dazs said that the Bronxville shop was an ideal choice to unveil the new design because of the companys ties to New York, where it was founded in the Bronx in 1960.
This shop has been around for 30 years, and when you remodel or redesign, youd like to test it with existing guests, she said. We knew we wanted to pick New York, because of its history, and when we looked at it, Bronxville was a perfect fit.
Despite the new look, Häagen-Dazs employees will continue to serve the same great ice cream that the public has enjoyed for decades, with kitchen friendly ingredients that anyone could find in their own home.
We believe that we have the worlds best ice cream, Chafe said. Were proud that weve elevated the experience, and we believe that our shops meet the quality of our ice cream.
