Hermine is now swirling about 300 miles west-southwest of central Florida while heading toward the north-northeast at between 7-10 miles per hour, the National Hurricane Center said.
If Hermine does indeed reach the area, it will be significantly weakened by staying over land, but it could still pack a powerful punch late Saturday and into Sunday, particularly in terms of rainfall and heavy winds. It could also affect the area into Labor Day.
Rip currents and rough surf conditions are expected throughout Labor Day weekend as a result of Hermine.
