Sentencing for a teenager who admitted to her role in the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Valaree Schwab last year has been delayed. Dominique Slack, 18, was scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday, but saw that postponed for routine reasons. Two of the area’s leading business advocacy organizations will soon become one, following the announcement of a major merger between the Westchester County Association and the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp.The deal, announced on Tuesday, Jan. 29, will center on strengthening the economy in the Hudson Valley. Body Pulled From Reservoir In Northern Westchester

A rescue crew pulled the body shortly after it was discovered around 9 a.m. near the intersection of Hunterbrook Road and Baptist Church Road. A 28-year-old man is facing life in prison for allegedly killing a homeless woman whose body was found outside the former historic Armory building on Main Street in New Rochelle. Jose Olmos, who is homeless, was arraigned this week on murder charges for allegedly beating Nurten Jeljuk on Friday, July 27. A written threat forced the evacuation of a Westchester elementary school on Wednesday. The Quaker Ridge Elementary School in Scarsdale was evacuated on Wednesday morning out of precaution, after a threat was found in the building. The nature of the threat was not disclosed by police. The man who terrorized his family with a shotgun and forced police to rescue his family during an armed standoff in Westchester has been formally arraigned following Wednesday’s incident. Port Chester resident Abe Massa, 29, has been charged with reckless endangerment after threatening his family with a shotgun, firing it in front of his mother and pointing it at her on Oct. 10. Two Injured In Crash Involving Police Vehicle On Taconic
This story has been updated. A section of the Taconic State Parkway was closed after a serious two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon involving a Westchester County police vehicle. The crash took place around 3 p.m. in Mount Pleasant, state police said. Two people, including a Westchester County police officer, were injured in the crash. Richard Thomas will be heading to court for allegedly stealing campaign funds and lying about money he diverted from his inaugural committee for personal benefit. Earlier this year, the Mount Vernon mayor was charged following an investigation which exposed that he allegedly stole $12,900 from his campaign committee and diverted more than $45,000 from his inaugural committee for personal use and failed to disclose that information to officials.
