Hazmat Team Called After Broken Thermometer Spills Mercury In Northern Westchester Home
A hazmat team was called to a Northern Westchester home after a broken thermometer spilled toxic mercury inside the residence, fire officials said. The incident happened on Saturday, Jan. 27 around 7:30 p.m., when a mercury thermometer broke inside a Somers residence on Lakeview Terrace, according to the Somers Volunteer Fire Department. Carbon Monoxide Scare Leads To Evacuation Of Townhomes In Northern Westchester
A carbon monoxide scare led to the evacuation of several townhomes in Northern Westchester. First responders from the Chappaqua Fire Department responded to Chappaqua Crossing off Bedford Road shortly before 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, when a transformer exploded, causing high levels of carbon monoxide.
