Man Critical After Lighting Himself On Fire Near Hudson River, Police Say
A man is in critical condition after pouring gasoline all over himself and setting himself on fire at an area park overlooking the Hudson River.
The incident took place around 2:20 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 2, in Dutchess County at Waryas Park in the City of Poughkeepsie, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark, of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
According to Clark, city 911 received multiple calls reporting a man set himself on fire near the shore at the park.
Responding officers found the victim, a 31-year-old Wappinger Falls man, with severe burns to his head, back, and arms, Clark said.

Popular Smoothie Bar Chain Opens Fifth Hudson Valley Location
A popular smoothie chain with more than 1,000 restaurants throughout the globe has opened its latest Hudson Valley location.
On Saturday, Feb. 22, Smoothie King celebrated the grand opening of its fifth Hudson Valley location, and first in Orange County off Route 300 in Newburgh. As part of its opening, the company offered free 20-ounce smoothies during the celebration.
The code for the free smoothie is redeemable through Tuesday, March 10.
Other Hudson Valley locations are in Dobbs Ferry, Lake Katrine, Wappinger Falls, and Yonkers.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, State Police troopers from Wappinger arrested Austin Mullen, age 20, of Wappinger, for Aggravated DWI. He was traveling on Pine Ridge Drive in Wappinger, when he was involved in a one-car motor vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.

More than two dozen motorists were busted by New York State Police troopers this past week as law enforcement agencies in the Hudson Valley continue a nationwide crackdown on drunk, drugged and distracted driving.
