Workers at America's largest wholesale retailer may soon go on strike as the corporation has seen profits skyrocket in recent years, union officials said. Hundreds of nurses and healthcare workers are planning on picketing outside of a Westchester hospital to seek a fair contract, union officials announced. On Wednesday, May 1, hundreds of healthcare workers will picket outside Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow to demand more input on issues relating to patient care and staffing. Entergy Reaches Deal With Union On Indian Point Contract
A possible strike by workers at the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Northern Westchester has been averted. Entergy announced early Wednesday morning that it has reached an agreement with the Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2 on a new four-year contract for the union’s approximately 330 workers at the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan. Indian Point now has a total of nearly 1,000 employees.
