A police sergeant from the Hudson Valley faces manslaughter charges after throwing a cooler at a suspect while the person was driving a motorized scooter, causing their death, officials announced.

Police Nab Violent Westchester Kidnapper Who Fled, Cops Say
Police in Fairfield County nabbed a violent kidnapper who fled from Westchester County after committing the alleged crime.
The incident took place in Greenwich early Thursday, Sept. 21.
According to Lt. Patrick Smyth, of the Greenwich Police, the department was notified by authorities in Westchester that police pursued a suspected wanted in a kidnapping and assault with a gun in Rye and had crossed state lines into the Town of Greenwich.
The suspect, identified as Daniel Patrick Twomey, age 39, of Lodi, New Jersey, was believed to be armed and dangerous, Smyth said.
