Tuckahoe Reaches State Championship Game

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – With their two top scorers in foul trouble for most of the game, the still unbeaten Tuckahoe boys basketball team reached the New York State Class C finals by battling to an 80-73 victory over Mechanicville at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Despite having their two leading scorers Sky Williams and Justin Nolan plagued by fouls – Nolan had three early in the second quarter -- the resilient Tigers refused to falter and led 29-27 at halftime.

“Yeah we are all business and we came too far to slip up now,” Tigers point guard Shyheim Nixon said Thursday before leaving Glens Falls. “I know I can speak for everyone on the team that we don’t want to lose. It’s put up or shut up.”

Tuckahoe will face Middle College, which defeated Cooperstown 58-57 on two clutch free throws in overtime to win the other semifinal, on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Williams, who eventually fouled out in the final minute of the game, scored a game-high 28 points, 11 in the first half and eight in the decisive third quarter when the Tigers extended their lead to 48-42.
