GLENS FALLS, N.Y. With their two top scorers in foul trouble for most of the game, the still unbeaten Tuckahoe boys basketball team reached the New York State Class C finals by battling to an 80-73 victory over Mechanicville at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Despite having their two leading scorers Sky Williams and Justin Nolan plagued by fouls Nolan had three early in the second quarter -- the resilient Tigers refused to falter and led 29-27 at halftime.
Yeah we are all business and we came too far to slip up now, Tigers point guard Shyheim Nixon said Thursday before leaving Glens Falls. I know I can speak for everyone on the team that we dont want to lose. Its put up or shut up.
Tuckahoe will face Middle College, which defeated Cooperstown 58-57 on two clutch free throws in overtime to win the other semifinal, on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Williams, who eventually fouled out in the final minute of the game, scored a game-high 28 points, 11 in the first half and eight in the decisive third quarter when the Tigers extended their lead to 48-42.
