Pace Baseball Splits; Softball Drops Doubleheader

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – Pace’s baseball team split a doubleheader with No. 4 Southern New Hampshire and had to battle for the game one win. Joe Lombardi crushed a solo homer in the 10th inning to lift Pace to a 4-3 win.

The Setters dropped the nightcap, 7-3, and are now 16-11 overall and 7-4 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Pace will next face conference foe Franklin Pierce University in a doubleheader on Saturday.

Softball:

Pace lost both games of a doubleheader against UMass Lowell despite Chelsea Shea’s grand slam in the last inning of the first game. The Setters are now 20-10 overall and 8-8 in the conference and will next battle conference opponent Merrimack College on Saturday.

Men’s Tennis:

The men’s squad lost to Franklin Pierce, 6-3, and the Setters are now 4-9 overall and 2-8 in the conference. Mattia Pastore scored two wins on Friday; Pace won two singles matches and one doubles match in total.

Women’s Tennis:

The women’s team also dropped its match to Franklin Pierce by the score of 6-3. The Setters are still winless this season and are 0-11 overall. Each of Pace’s three wins on Friday came in the singles matches. Simona Mrazova scored a 6-0, 6-1 win in the number one singles match.
