Pace Baseball Loses First Game of Season

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace’s baseball team lost its first game of the season on Tuesday with a 7-4 loss to Saint Thomas Aquinas College.

The Setters (4-1) fell behind 6-0 by the second inning. Brandon Martineson doubled in the third inning, and Michael Ligouri singled to move him to third base. Chris Gili then grounded out, but Martineson scored to put Pace on the board.

In the fourth inning, Joe Solemeno led off with a double and Patrick Chaputain moved him to third base with a single. Solemeno scored on a sacrifice fly from Joe Lombardi.

Pace cut the lead to 6-4 in the seventh inning but the Spartans scored again in the eighth to give themselves a cushion.
