Briarcliff Baseball Continues Road to State Finals

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. – The Briarcliff Bears baseball team continues its quest to return to the state championship game when they face Spackenkill High School in the regional semifinals at SUNY New Paltz today.

The Bears won the Section 1 Class B title by defeating Keio in the championship game last Wednesday. Paul Henshaw pitched a complete game for Briarcliff to lead the Bears to the win.

Briarcliff will have its hands full with Spackenkill, the Section 9 champions. The Spartans have shown that they are capable of scoring double digit runs several times this season but also can edge their opponents in close, low-scoring games.

Spackenkill proved that in the playoffs as it defeated Onteora, 3-2, in the Section 9 Class B semifinals and then blew out O’Neill, 10-3, in the finals.

The Bears need three consecutive wins to return to the state championship game.
