Briarcliff School's Boutique Raises Over $800 For American Cancer Society

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Students, teachers and parents enjoyed seasonal snacks, live music, raffle prizes and holiday shopping opportunities at Briarcliff Middle School’s annual Holiday Boutique.

Briarcliff Middle School hosted its annual Holiday Boutique on Nov. 24, featuring a festive atmosphere and opportunities to purchase gifts handcrafted by students and teachers. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Proceeds from the Holiday Boutique, more than $800, will benefit the American Cancer Society.

At the boutique, which was on Nov. 24, Briarcliff Middle School Students handcrafted items to sell.

“The students really take responsibility here,” said Principal Susan Howard. “They take inventory, deposit the funds and feel really proud of what they have done.”

Members of the school’s Art and Clay, Greenhouse, Home and Careers and Marine Biology clubs provided handcrafted items for the sale, along with talented teachers who shared their crafts.

The school’s orchestra and jazz band provided festive entertainment for shoppers.

“The Boutique is a great community builder,” said art teacher Jessica Dubin, who donated two of her own pottery creations to the raffle. “It allows for informal interactions between parents, students and staff, and fosters a sense of common purpose. It was a pleasure to see the positive energy and enthusiasm of all involved.”
