The young students met their classmates and teachers and engaged in activities to prepare for a year of learning at the school.
The day’s activities ranged from the kindergartners drawing their first pictures of the school year in Leslie Newman’s class to an introduction to mathematics through fun counting exercises in Jeanne Smith’s classroom.
Kindergartners in Alyson Tully’s class completed self-portraits, and Bonnie Seligson’s students created their own calendars for the month of September.
While the activities varied throughout the day, giving each student a unique first day to remember, the excitement and eagerness to learn was palpable in each kindergarten classroom, according to a release from the Briarcliff Manor Union Free School District.
