The exhibition will be on Thursday, April 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club, 777 Albany Post Road, Briarcliff Manor.

A number of students focused their attention this year on exotic and far off places, while others found inspiration in the fascinating complexities of painting’s technical processes: still life paintings developed with indirect method using glazes and scumbles, alla prima method and abstract expressionism.

Included in the show are “Scholastic Art” Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention award-winning paintings. In the studio, drawing students modeled for each other to create figure studies. Students also explored the graphic potential of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and Celtic imagery. Photo students received their training with black and white film in the darkroom producing a range of images.

Briarcliff continues its much-anticipated annual screening of original film shorts produced and directed by the talented young filmmakers of Briarcliff. Ceramics round off this student offering, providing a colorful and playful addition to the exhibition.

Music accompaniments will be provided by Briarcliff music students. Guest speaker will be Vincent Desiderio, an internationally known artist from Marlborough Gallery, New York City.
