Vescio advised the Executive Committee of the People's Caucus of Briarcliff Manor that he would seek the Caucus nomination.

"I felt it was time to step aside, however, a significant number of residents and municipal leaders made the argument that during these difficult economic times, the Village needs to be even more diligent and I should continue in my service to the Village as its Mayor," Vescio said in an emailed statement. "In the end, I agree that we as a Village need to be even more cautious and fiscally responsible during the next few years and therefore will be seeking re-election as Mayor."

The Caucus is set to nominate candidates for mayor, two trustee positions and the village justice during its annual meeting at 8 p.m., Jan. 9 in the Briarcliff Middle School Theater. The Caucus is also set to nominate candidates for the Caucus’ executive committee during the meeting. Any registered voter in Briarcliff Manor is eligible to seek a nomination from the caucus, said Chairperson Aaron Stern.

If any local elected position is contested a voting meeting will be set for 3 to 9 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Briarcliff Youth Center. A Meet The Candidates/Debate is also set for 8 p.m. on Jan. 16 at the Briarcliff Middle School Theater. No other residents have announced intentions to run against Vescio.
