OSSINING, N.Y. -- An Ossining family lost their home to a two-alarm fire that leveled their Gordon Avenue home early Tuesday.

Briarcliff Manor firefighters were called to what they thought was a laundry room fire around 1:48 a.m., but when they arrived on scene at 48 Gordon Ave., they found the home, and a vehicle, fully engulfed in flames, according to the Briarcliff Fire Company.

The fire ripped through the two-story wood structure, causing the home to collapse before firefighters could bring it under control within an hour.

The home's long winding driveway, along with downed power lines also hampered firefighting efforts, officials said.

This section of the Town of Ossining is covered by the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department.

No one was injured during the event.

The department received mutual aid from Millwood Fire Department, Ossining Fire Department, Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, Chappaqua Fire Department, Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department, Pleasantville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Thornwood Fire Department and the Pocantico Hills Fire Department. Also on scene was Ossining Police Department, Con Edison and Westchester County Des Battalion 12.
