Salvatore Torchia, 78, Former Briarcliff Resident

COLD SPRING, N.Y. - Salvatore Torchia, most recently of Cold Spring and Ocala, Fla., and a former longtime resident of Briarcliff Manor, died Nov.23. He was 78.

Torchia was born April 14, 1935, to Frank and Rosa (nee Rotella) Torchia in Marcellinara, Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy. He served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Coral Sea Pools and Torchia's Restaurant in Briarcliff.

Torchia is survived by his wife, Chiarina (Claire) (nee D'Ambrosio) Torchia of Cold Spring; children, Anthony (Anna)Torchia of Ossining, Angela (Joe) Raimo of Silver Spring, Fla., Elizabeth (Vito) Luongo of West Harrison and Sallyann (Ron) Droop of Hilton Head, S.C.; brother, Alfred (Christina) Torchia of Ocala, Fla.; sisters, Maria Donato, Lidia Marcella and Angela Contini; eight grandchildren;and a great grandson. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Anthony and Victor; and sister, Giovanna.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 at St.Theresa's Church, Briarcliff Manor. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Greenburgh.
