Born to Loretta and Emmett Morrissy on Nov. 22, 1933, Morrissy was raised in River Forest, Ill., with his four siblings, James, John, Jeanne, and Joanne.
He attended Fenwick High School and the Fournier Engineering School on a scholarship and graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Loyola University.
Following graduation, Morrissy enjoyed a marketing career for 35 years at General Foods in White Plains and, following an early retirement, he devoted himself to community service.
Among his many efforts, he served as a volunteer for Phelp’s Hospice program for nearly three decades, was a Board and Development Committee Member of the Ossining Children’s Center, and served on the Board of Trustees for the Village of Briarcliff Manor.
He was an integral member of St. Theresa’s Parish, having served in many roles, including financial advisor and Eucharistic Minister for the Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Morrissy; four children, Mary Claire, Jennifer Ann, Thomas Aquinas (Trisha), and Patricia Jane (Jeffrey); seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous beloved in-laws, nephews, and nieces.
He was predeceased by two children, William James in 1974 and Cynthia Marie in 2007.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, 1394 Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor.
