Pig Races, Dr. Seuss For Weekend Around Briarcliff

OSSINING, N.Y. – A Harlem Masters basketball show, a country-themed fall festival and a Dr. Seuss party are some of the events planned for this weekend. Here are the details:

Friday

Harlem Magic Masters Basketball Game, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A basketball game with a half-time show featuring funny routines and local talent is planned to take place in the Briarcliff High School gymnasium. Advance sale tickets sold at the library, Weldon's Stationary and Todd School's PTA book fair cost $13 and tickets are $15 at the door. All proceeds benefit the Briarcliff Booster Club and the Briarcliff Rotary Club's high school scholarships.

Hudson River Potters Show/Sale, Friday 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Meet artists and do holiday shopping at an annual holiday sale featuring functional and decorative ceramics, held at the Briarcliff Congregational Church, 30 South State St.

Saturday

Ossining Union Free School District's Health & Wellness Fair, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be blood pressure screenings, fitness demonstrations, flu information, a Parent Teacher Association coat sale, ambulance tours for children and more at this event at Claremont School, 30 Claremont Rd. in Ossining.

St. Theresa's School Fall Festival, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The annual festival will feature "Hollywood Hog" pig races, hay rides, jumpy castles, a petting zoo, sack races, a ring toss, a pie-baking contest, artisanal vendors, a 50/50 raffle, face painting, a country music DJ and more. The entrance fee for families is $25, and food will be available for purchase. St. Theresa's Church is located at 1394 Pleasantville Rd. in Briarcliff Manor.

Special Story time: Dr. Seuss Party, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Listen to a few Dr. Seuss stories, make a Seuss craft, play a Seuss game or two and even enjoy a small Seuss snack at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Rd. The event is free.

Sunday

Briarcliff "Family & Home" Discovery Event, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Find out more about your family and your home from experts on genealogy and house history who will be at the Briarcliff library, 1 Library Rd. Bring Briarcliff family and house photos and you can win a prize as well as be included in a new book, "Briarcliff Manor, NY – An American Original." This free event is sponsored by the Briarcliff Manor-Scarborough Historical Society and the Briarcliff Manor Public Library. Refreshments will be served.
