PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. Just a handful of clouds filled the sky in Pleasantville on Saturday as music filled the air during the 7th Annual Pleasantville Music Festival presented by WXPK 107.1 The Peak.
Twenty bands took the stage and performed in front of thousands, including headliner Marc Cohn, on the beautiful summer day.
Tents, umbrellas and lawn chairs filled Parkway Field on Marble Avenue. Three stages at the festival offered music simultaneously throughout the day and into the night. Some of the notable artists included Augustana, Sonny Landreth and Scars on 45
Jeff Howe, a Pleasantville resident, has been coming to the music festival since the first year, and is impressed how the festival continues to attract more people.
"Just seeing so many people out here is great for Pleasantville, and just seeing it grow each year is even better," Howe said.
Howe said he was looking forward to seeing the headliner perform, especially his well-known single "Walking in Memphis".
"I'm here to see Cohn, I think that's what everybody here is looking forward to,"
Over 50 local businesses used the festival to set up shop, offering goods, services and charitable opportunities to those in attendance. The smell of hot dogs, roasted peanuts and pulled pork filled the air along the vendor tents with styles of food for every taste bud.
Many other local vendors sold clothing items and jewelry.
The festival was also an opportunity for vendors to advertise upcoming events. Darlene White with Westchester Medical Center said the event was a great opportunity to get the word out about their charitable Trauma Run in September.
"I think [Westchester Medical Center] chooses to come to this event because of the amount of people from all over Westchester that come to the event, we've been coming here for years," White said.
Free parking was offered at Pace University's Pleasantville campus and a shuttle system to and from the field offered seamless transitions without traffic.
