BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Kelly, a young dog recently found abandoned in the woods, is the SPCA of Westchester County's Pet of the Week.
The 1 1/2-year-old, was "scared and shut down" when she first arrived at the shelter, but has been gaining confidence, learning to trust and enjoying her time with people, according to the SPCA.
Kelly gets on well with other dogs, including her roommate, a Chihuahua mix, according to the shelter.
Described as a "truly gentle soul," she is best suited to a quiet and predictable home with a family with children older than 12.
To schedule an appointment to meet Kelly or any of the shelter's other adoptable animals, email trainer@spca914.org.
