BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. A trial to settle charges stemming from a physical scuffle between two Briarcliff school board members has been cancelled, Briarcliff justice clerk Rori Zirman said.
The trial had been scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m., but it has been cancelled, and there is no trial date set for the future, Zirman said.
"I honestly don't know why. I was just told by the judge and the DA's office that it's not going to go through," Zirman said.
School board member Rosella Ranno, 62, filed a police complaint against fellow board member Salvatore Maglietta, 57, in May of 2011 stating that on election night on May 17, 2011, Maglietta pushed her shoulder, then walked over to a crowd of friends saying, "She's nasty and angry. I didn't push her."
According to court papers, Ranno felt "threatened, vulnerable and extremely worried that he would do something worse."
Maglietta was charged with Harassment in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor.
Maglietta's lawyer, Andrew Rubin, of the law firm Mancuso Rubin & Fufidio in White Plains, did not return a call to ask why the trial was cancelled, in time for publication.
