“As soon as I got this quirky rescue dog," says Schaefer, “I knew the book had to be written. My goal was to imbue acceptance in a humorous book actually narrated from the perspective of an insecure pup.”
The book and accompanying fan club have been growing in popularity, and the second book is slated for release at the end of the summer. A portion of all sales goes to local animal shelters, and the book can be used for fundraising.
The book is a tale of rescue dog Crumbles as he struggles to protect his humans from an army of evil brown paper bags. Crumbles is aided by Napoleon, a militant poodle, and Chip, a rodent obsessed with the number 12. Whisper, the wise but mute bunny, makes a key appearance, too. Along the way, Crumbles shares his funny Crumbles Code Rules.
